Quip Export Tool does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. All information stays on your device.

Overview

Quip Export Tool is a Chrome extension that lets you browse and export documents from your Quip account. This privacy policy explains what data the extension accesses, how it is used, and how it is stored.

Data the Extension Stores

The extension stores only two pieces of information, both provided by you:

Quip API Token — A personal access token you generate from your Quip account settings and enter manually.
Quip Base URL — The URL of your organization's Quip platform (e.g. https://platform.quip.com).

Both values are saved locally on your device using Chrome's chrome.storage API. They are never transmitted to any third-party server, analytics service, or external endpoint.

Data the Extension Does Not Collect

The extension does not collect or access:

Personally identifiable information (name, email, address, etc.)
Browsing history or web activity
Authentication or login credentials
Health, financial, or location information
Website content or communication data
Any data from other browser tabs or extensions

Network Requests

The extension communicates exclusively with the Quip API at the base URL you configure. These requests are used solely to:

List folders and documents in your Quip account
Export document content for download

No data is sent to any other server. The extension does not include analytics, tracking, advertising, or telemetry of any kind.

Permissions

The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

storage — To save your API token and base URL locally.
downloads — To save exported documents as files on your computer.
clipboardWrite — To copy folder and document IDs to your clipboard when you use the Copy button.
Host permissions (https://*/*) — To make API requests to your Quip platform, which may be hosted on a variety of custom enterprise domains.

Third-Party Services

The extension does not use any third-party services, SDKs, libraries, or external scripts. All code is bundled within the extension package. No remote code is loaded or executed.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your API token and base URL remain in local Chrome storage until you either clear them from the extension's Settings page or uninstall the extension. Uninstalling the extension automatically removes all stored data.

Children's Privacy

This extension is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
